About – Last Man Standing

Prize

The prize for the 2012 Super Rugby Last Man Standing competition will be a pair of Sharks branded Oakley Antix sunglasses, courtesy of Oakley South Africa. The prize will be delivered to the winner in South Africa only. If we have a non SA based winner, we will arrange a suitable replacement prize.

How to Play Just Rugby’s Last Man Standing

1. Once you have logged in to JustRugby.net select the Last Man Standing competition from the menu.

2. Enter your team in the competition by clicking on the “Enter team” button.

3. Choose a name for your team and enter your team.

4. Choose your winning team or bye for this round and submit your selection. ENSURE that your selection is correct before submitting it. Once your selection is entered in the JustRugby database it cannot be changed.

5. You may only pick each team once during the competition and when you have picked that team they will not be available for further selection in subsequent rounds.

6. Should you forget to make your pick, you will be eliminated from the game. A reminder email will be sent every week before kick-off to remind you to make your selection.

7. Once you have made your selection for a particular round, you will be able to click on any other player’s team to reveal who they have picked for that round, provided of course that they have already made their pick.

8. You are now done.

Rules

1. Each person may enter one team in the Last Man Standing competition. At our sole discretion, if we feel that two teams belong to the same physical person, one of the teams will be deleted. The onus will be on that person to prove otherwise.

2. To win the competition the player will need to be The Last Man Standing at any stage during the 18 pool rounds of the Super Rugby competition.

3. To continue progressing through the 18 rounds of the competition the player will need to pick a side that wins their match for the round that is to be played that weekend. A Draw will be scored as a loss.

4. If players do not make their selections for any round of the competition they will be eliminated.

5. Selections may be made any time until 6am South African Time on the Friday in each round at which time the selections will be locked.

6. Each player may only pick each team once throughout the competition. The team will be removed from the player’s list of teams available for selection once it has been picked. Each player will also be allowed to pick 3 (three) byes during the tournament.

7. Each player will be allocated a single lifeline at the start of the competition. The first time that the player selects a losing/drawing team, they will lose that lifeline, rather than being killed outright.

8. Missing a pick, or picking a side that is not playing in the round (has a bye) will result in immediate death. No lifeline will come into play.

9. Should the pool stages of the competition be completed and more than one player is still standing then a tie break will be used to decide the winner. As a first step, any player who has lost a lifeline will be eliminated from contention. After that, a time stamp will be assigned to each pick made, recording the elapsed time from the round being opened to the selection being made. The timestamp for the first pick (Round 1) will NOT be counted This elapsed time will be totalled each week and at the end of the tournament the smallest elapsed time will be used as the tie break to determine the winner.

10.  The following round will be opened sometime between the completion of the final match and Monday morning 8am South African time.

11. JustRugby.net will exclude anyone from a chance of winning the prize if it is felt that the player has not conducted him/herself within the spirit of the game.

12. The Judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into

13. The Winner of the competition shall agree to having a suitable image of them published on JustRugby.net and/or Sharksworld.co.za

14. The organizers of Last Man Standing take no responsibility for any schedule changes to kick-off times that may result in players missing the lock for a round.

15. Email or any other form of pick submissions will be accepted ONLY in the event of a JustRugby.net malfunction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enter more than one team?

Afraid not, we need to give everyone a fair chance of winning, you can however enter a team in more than one Just Rugby competition.

Can I change my selection once it has been made?

No, Once your pick has been entered it cannot be changed so please ensure that you double check before pressing the “Submit Pick” button.

What happens the 1st time I get a selection wrong?

You will lose your lifeline, unless the team you have picked is not playing in that round (has a bye) in which case you will be immediately killed for sheer stupidity.

May I select a team more than once?

No, you may select each team only once. Once you have selected a team, it will be removed from the list of available options for you to select in the next round. The exception to this is the bye round which you will be able to select 3 times.

What happens if there is only one player left standing before all 18 rounds have been played?

That player will then be the winner. You do not have to reach round 18 to be the winner of the competition, you merely need to be the Last Man Standing at any stage of the tournament.

What do we do if there is more than one player standing at the end?

Three tie breaks will be used if this happens.

1). Any player still standing, but who has already lost their lifeline, will be eliminated,

2).  During the competition a time stamp will be assigned to each pick made, recording the elapsed time from the round being opened to the selection being made. This elapsed time will then be totalled each week and at the end of the tournament the player with the smallest elapsed time will be the winner.

3). In the VERY unlikely event that there is still more than one player left, then the smallest elapsed time for the Round 2 selection will determine the winner.  Should there be no clear winner after this Round 3′s elapsed time will be used and so on until one of the rounds offers a clear winner.

What happens if I forget to make my selection?

Any player who does not make a selection before any round closes will automatically be eliminated.

What happens if the match I picked ends in a draw?

A draw will be scored as a loss. The object of the Last Man Standing is not to pick a team that does not lose. The object is to pick a winning team.

A certain team doesn’t appear in my list of teams to pick?

You have already picked that team earlier in the competition and therefore they are not available for further selection

If for some reason the JustRugby server is down and I cannot make my selections what happens?

If you email us the selections then we will enter them, provided the downtime is of an unacceptable duration. If not then the default rule will apply.
